Not long after the ethanol industry began to really gain momentum, key figures within the industry began exploring the idea of leveraging the visibility of motorsports as a venue to highlight the high performance characteristics of the fuel. In 2007, the Indy Racing League converted to 100% ethanol. In 2011, both NASCAR and USAC began fueling their top series with E15. Finally, there is growing use of ethanol on the dirt tracks and drag strips across this country and race fans and racers alike are seeing firsthand the high performance nature of homegrown ethanol. This panel will examine ethanol's growing contribution to motorsports from the perspective of the sport's largest sanctioning body all the way down to passion of an ethanol industry professional and weekend racer who is leveraging his racecar to draw attention this incredible fuel, one race track at a time.
